Someone Else Asked

What age were you when you first noticed low sexual desire?

melissaltrimble Answered
“I'm almost ashamed to say, but probably late 40's. I'm 55 now and am in pre menopause so I'm sure that has something to do with it.”

What is the recommended treatment for HSDD?

melissaltrimble Answered
“I have heard all of the above and more. The most appalling thing I heard was "maybe it's a sign that your marriage is in trouble"! ARGH!!! I thought I was gonna knock her out! Also, like Letterwoman, I have had all the creams and patches and even vaginal inserts that I have to do 3 times a week. That's REAL conducive to romance - NOT!!! A lot of medical professionals treat HSDD, and those who suffer from it, the exact same way that doctors treated PTSD and depression many years ago. I distinctly remember being told that I should "think happier thoughts" by a doctor in reference to my depression. Anyhow, I think that HSDD is one of those things that will take some time to "come out of the closet", as it were. In the meantime, I will keep looking for a doctor who actually has an open mind where these types of things are concerned. It's important to me.”

About Me
I am about to begin treatment with Vyleesi. I am lucky enough to have found a gynecologist who is open minded and did not try to tell me that HSDD was "all in my head", as others have done in the past. She is very interested for me to report to her regularly on
my progress or lack thereof. I am "patient-0-" , the guinea pig!! I don't mind "taking one for the team" if it helps me and/or others. I don't like injections but if it is the treatment I've been seeking, then I am willing to do it. I also have a very understanding and caring husband who has committed to working this out together. That makes a difference.
